Carys urges Thurrock residents to support Ngage

11.05.00pm GMT Sun 21st Feb 2010

Thurrock Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Carys Davis, has today called on residents to back Ngage's petition against funding cuts.

Ngage is a community organisation working in Thurrock, supporting local groups and forums. It works with local residents to encourage 'active citizenship' in order for them to play a bigger part in the local community and get involved in decision making opportunities. However, the vital work it does will end if Thurrock Council goes ahead with its plan to cut all funding for Ngage.

The budget is set to be voted on by councillors on Wednesday 24th February.

Carys said:

"I urge residents to sign the petition to support Ngage. As a Liberal Democrat, community engagement is close to my heart. It's crucial local people should be able to get involved in making the decisions that affect their lives.

"I'm offering my full support to Ngage in their challenge to this decision.
